Summer 1

We will be revisiting RWI Set 2 sounds this half term and consolidating the childrens' independent writing skills using their phonic skills and knowledge of tricky words.

We will be encouraging them to write in different genres such as lists, captions, speech bubbles as well as descriptive writing. 

It would be really helpful for you to support your child's learning at home.

Below, are the dates when the RWI Set 2 sounds will be introduced and recapped as well as the genres we aim to introduce.

Week beginning:

22nd April 2019 – RWI SET 2 Sounds recap ay, ee tricky words no, go, so writing genre character descriptions 

29th April 2019 - RWI SET 2 Sounds recap 'igh' and ‘ow’ tricky words - all, call  writing genre character descriptions 

7th May 2019 - RWI SET 2 Sounds recap 'oo’ as in zoo and ‘oo’ as in book tricky words was, her writing genre speech bubbles 

13th May 2019 - RWI SET 2 Sounds recap 'ar', ‘or’ and ‘ir’ tricky words what, when writing genre captions 

20th May 2019 - RWI SET 2 Sounds recap ‘air ‘, 'ou’ and ‘oy', tricky words - some, come  writing genre instructions

Spring 2

We will be introducing the children to RWI Set 2 sounds this half term and consolidating their skills in independently writing words and sentences containing these sounds as well as our tricky words. We will also be consolidating two 'tricky' words each week.

It would be really helpful for you to support your child's learning at home.

Below, are the dates when the RWI Set 2 sounds will be introduced and the tricky words consolidated.

Spring 1

We will be consolidating the children’s' skills in independently writing words and sentences containing Read Write Inc Set 1 sounds this half term. We will also be teaching the children to read and write two 'tricky' words each week.

Autumn 2

We will be recapping and consolidating Read Write Inc Set 1 sounds with the children this half term.

A new sound will be consolidated each day, so the pace continues to be fast.

The children will also begin to write words containing the letter sounds that they know and may begin to write short sentences too.

Introducing Read Write Inc Set 1 Sounds

Autumn 1

We will be introducing and consolidating Read Write Inc Set 1 sounds to the children this half term.

A new sound is introduced each day, so the pace is fast.

The children will be learning how to say the sound (phoneme) and write each letter (grapheme).

It would be really helpful for you to support your child's learning at home.

Below, are the dates when each set of sounds will be introduced.

There is also a link to a website to help your child (and you!) to say the sounds correctly.
